“Hiyake!! Oh dear,Look at you! Do you know what time is it now! You are late! It’s already 6.15 AM!” mother had called her daughter up and she knows that my older sister sleeps in the same room as her? They both share the same bed and if Hiyake’s sister do woke up she’ll warn her not to. She look at her mother sleepily and said “aww….yawn….it’s only 15 more minutes before I go to school…” Hiyake got up slowly and head for the bathroom at the corner, my mom stared at me and leaves the room. Hiyake’s family is Chinese and her name is not actually Hiyake, that’s what she felt because Hiyake Kazashimo sounded like Japanese and it is a mystery that her name is not in Chinese name. Hiyake had ask her mother but she wouldn’t give her the proper answer and always say “ it’s our family name of course .There is a meaning behind your name and your late aunt helped me name you but..it’s quite a mystery though…about your name” Hiyake had the feeling that her mother doesn’t know why.
It took her 10 minutes to wash up and dress in to her blue and white school uniform and put her white socks on. Hiyake took out the little charging plug out of her phone from it’s cradle where it had been charging whole night long and plugged in her older sister’s phone to charge up. She left the room and walked down the stairs where her younger brother would be there drinking his cup of milk and bread. But he wasn’t around so she figured that he to had slept in late last night. Hiyake made her way to the kitchen to make tea with biscuits for breakfast since she doesn’t know what to eat in the morning. By the time she had done making her tea her younger brother Yuen Kazashimo reach the dinning hall sleepily.
“I guess someone here had woken up late” Hiyake teased him while walking to the dining table. Her brother look up to her and said “what about you? Stupid.” Hiyake and Yuen stared at each other for awhile until they broke off connections when their grandfather came in to the dining hall.”There is my healthy grandkids! Looking at each other like sister and brother..how cute!” he said walking up to them and give them a good morning kiss on the forehead. “ yeah, so cute until they needed a kiss in the forehead every morning like little kids” Hiyake’s older brother, Yore Kazashimo had woken up early to get ready for collage and now he is ready to go. He look at the both of them and grin. Hiyake and Yuen glare at him and yelled “ WE ARE NOT LITTLE!!!” suddenly Hiyake turn her gaze to Yuen. “You are still little ya’know! Even though you are in your fifth grade you still act like a brat!” she barked at him. “I maybe small but I am not a scared little cat like you!” Yuen countered back at Hiyake. Soon they continue like this until the reach the car for school.
It was a very noisy ride to school because Hiyake hadn’t done finishing the fight with her younger brother, not until Hiyake’s school came to sight. She put her phone secretly into her pockets of her shorts since she ‘ll never and won’t wear skirts without shorts. She got out of the car and entered the gate of the entrance of the school. This is her 4th year in secondary school, she is starting a new start about being a 16 year old and never wanted to repeat the past mistake. Hiyake has a dream of being a mangaka and she doesn’t want to back down from that since she is good at drawing. Her bests friends Juliana Jones, Stephenie Joanne and Priya Janli are going to be in the same class as she hoped because if they choose science stream it would be hell forever.
Hiyake jogged to the cafeteria to find the trios sitting at the corner of the room, laughing and smacking each other on the back. “THAT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING I EVER HEARD!!!! So what happens to him next?” Juliana, in shoulder length hair ask. “ He got kicked in the ass by his sister for calling her one-sided nerdy. You should have seen the look on his face when he was kicked!” Stephenie, the one in short and wavy hair laughed. “Hey! Hiyake come over here!” Priya , the long and curly hair called out for Hiyake when she spotted her.” Sorry I am late guys, problems with my brothers…” Hiyake said while putting down her bag and sat beside Stephenie. “oh I see….the usually fight again, anyway we were talking about this show, about a boy who believes in superstitions and teasing his sister who do not believe in those kind of things“ said Juliana . “Oh! The ‘Never say anything about superstitions’? yeah I’ve seen it, it was a total crap! Who would believe that if you pull a single hair of yours with your middle finger and your thump and near by there will be an accident will happen and at midnight , if you do seen the person who gets into the accident dies in the day after lunch time , you will be sent to the most weirdest world from the past. That’s just silly! And best of all ……I don’t get it.” Said Hiyake. Juliana gave her a look and said “you always don’t get it”“but Hiyake….isn’t it true? If you do see the dead at daylight ,and the same day, at night you’ll be sent to another world?....i mean….chinese people have many believes right? ” ask Priya who look at little curious. Hiyake shook her head and said “ there isn’t such a thing like that ya’know, we Chinese do not have those kind of believe, plus I don’t even know if it’s one of the Chinese believe” “Who wanna believe that kind of thing? eh, come on there’s nothing to it! Just forget about that, it isn’t real right? So, let’s not think to much about it.” Said Stephenie who is normally happy as always. “ yap , let’s change topic then! So did the results came out already?” ask Hiyake. “ Iam not very sure, I bet you choose arts stream right?” in fact all of them choose the same thing. Soon they were in a little conversation.
It was time for them to go to their destinated classroom. The quartet are now in the same class as they hoped and Hiyake is chosen to sit beside Juliana. Their class teacher was a very dramatic and always the lady like talk. They had their classes and recess and then at the time of 1.40 pm the school ended. The four of them had been chatting about the new artist that had been singing since her young age of 13, now currently being the queen of the rockstars. Hiyake bend farewell and waved to her friends and entered the car, soon later she had another fight with her brother again.
They reach home after what seemed like 30 minutes and Hiyake was greeted by her dog Max. “That’s my good boy! Gimme a good hug!” said Hiyake, her brother stared at her in disguise and said “his not your stuff toy ya’know” “what do I care about what you have to say?” Hiyake patted Max at his belly and later entered the house, she walked to the bathroom to wash her hands before she goes to have lunch. She washed her hands and then stared at her reflection on the mirror. “looking good !” she said to herself stupidly. Hiyake noticed her hair was messy, so she went and comb her hair with only her fingers when suddenly she accidentally pulled out a hair . “oh damn…” she cursed to herself and continue to comb her hair properly. She looked at the mirror and blinked when she noticed something had reflected against the mirror and what looked like her hair had extended. Hiyake stared at shock and lead forward a little to make sure she isn’t seeing things, she blinked her eyes and stared again properly…….it got back to her normal shoulder pass length hair, it was strange that something happen in front of her eyes and all she could tell is just a hallucination. “…..weird….” she look at the mirror again if anything happens but it didn’t, thinking that she might have been right about seeing hallucinations, and so she left the bathroom for the dining hall, not noticing the image before had came back to the mirror itself.
“What’s for lunch? Don’t tell me it’s mushroom stew again….”Hiyake ask her grandmother disappoint but was later happy that on the dining table were only fish, some veggies and carrot soup “ eat whatis on the table dear, you know what is your favorate on the table today” her grandmother said happily seeing her grand child squealing. Hiyake ate happily on the dining hall until an ambulance pass by the dining room window. Hiyake was surprise, what is going on? Did something happen? Hiyake got up and notice the ambulance stopped right the opposite of her house. Something has happen to the house opposite of her house. Her grandmother strolled over and stood beside Hiyake and watched the neighbor at the opposite. “I think Sukiya-chan had been sick lately and now it might had gone worse, I visited their family this morning to give some advance about the fever she has been in. She looked paled at that time……I guess her parents have to call the ambulance to take her to the hospital.” Hiyake and Sukiya had known each other since the day their family came to town, since that day they became friends and they came over to each others house and do home works together. Hiyake is a bit worried about the situation that is happening to Sukiya now and she want to go take a look. Hiyake left the house and walk over to the neighbor as quickly as she could. She notice Sukiya now leading on the side of her house gate. She looked very paled then usual, her parents were crying and the people came out of the ambulance truck and tried to lead Sukiya to the back of the truck. “it’s ok dear! Please hold on!” Sukiya’s mother said tearfully. “She a strong girl dear! She will make it” Sukiya’s dad said shakily Sukiya then turn her gazed from her parents to Hiyake, she choked and manage to smile. Her mouth open to speak but fail. Sukiya’s mother notice that and saw Hiyake standing a few feet away. “come dear, I think Sukiya has something to say to you…” her tears fell when she end her sentence. Hiyake nodded and walk closer to Sukiya. When they were close Sukiya then lead her face nearer to Hiyake’s ear and whispered “……….have a nice trip…….. Kazashimo” Sukiya later choked out blood and fell on to Hiyake’s shoulder. Everyone was shocked and quickly tried to put Sukiya into the ambulance before it’s too late, but before they even lift Sukiya off Hiyake, she lost balance and fell to the ground. Sukiya’s father was very scared this time and tried to carry her up and put her into the bed brought out by the nurse in the truck but stop. He then lift his head , eyes widen. Sukiya’s mother ask “what is wrong dear? She needs to go to the hospital now!” she look at her husband and saw her husband paled, “WHAT”S WRONG DEAR? TELL ME!” she screamed at him. He was unable to speak or even tell what happen but he took his wife’s hand and put it on to Sukiya’s pulse. There was no heart beat and Sukiya’s skin had turn colder. Sukiya’s mother look as if she seen a ghost, her face paled and tears continuously fell and she let out a scream. “SU-KI-YAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!” everyone was now shocked and they quickly carried Sukiya in to the truck. Sukiya’s parents quickly got in and they quickly closed the door and drove off to the hospital. But Hiyake remain there, still and frighten, she could hear what the mother scream when she entered the ambulance . “Suki…ya…-chan………she’s……………..dead?”
Hiyake is now in her room facing the window, looking at the full moon outside the darkness. Sukiya had died in the afternoon, her family and the neighborhood had hear the commotion and was sad to hear it. Sukiya’s parents had came back home after being in the hospital and now crying moaning at their baby girl’s name. Hiyake is frighten to see her died in front of her eyes and she think she might not be able to sleep later on in the night. She had not taken a bath and still wearing her school uniform, it’s already 11.30 pm and her older sister is not in the room, still doing her project for collage tomorrow. Hiyake thought of calling Juliana so she could feel better later on. She walked across her room and picked up her phone from the cradle and dialed Juliana’s number. When the receiver picked up Juliana’s voice came over the line “helloooooo~!!” Hiyake is happy to hear her voice . she then told Juliana about what had happen this afternoon and Juliana gave out a gasp. “she didn’t survive huh? Well…..now how is her parents?” she ask. “not very good, they had been crying the whole evening and now Sukiya’s father is drunken and moaning her name over and over again.” Hiyake looked out the window and then look to her mirror on her bedroom wall. “listen, Juliana……something had happen before the ambulance came to take Sukiya away………something strange happen to me when I was in the bathroom” Hiyake had recalled the time when she noticed something appeared at the mirror. Juliana answered “what? Some freaky looking roaches had roam in the toilet bowl again? No worries, just flush them down-” “no, something else other then that…….the mirror…..i was looking in the mirror.. I was combing my hair with my fingers and this…this thing appeared right in front of me.” Hiyake said shivery “ oh don’t tell me….your sister snuck behind you right?” Juliana laugh. “No! that’s not it…I mean I was combing my hair with my finger when I suddenly pulled out a hair. And then this image of me with long hair appeared in the mirror…I swear I am not joking!” “hmm…..you sure your not kidding me? Hah! Ya right, you are trying to make a story like the boy in the show yesterday, he fooled his sister by saying the same thing you did, so now you want to try that trick on me? Hahahah! Don’t worry Hiyake I will not get scared anyway..” Juliana laugh through the phone. Hiyake was happy that Juliana cheer her up but telling her what happen in the bathroom is not gonna go through juliana’s head so Hiyake decided to change the topic. It was about to be 12 pm and Hiyake need some sleep. They stop chatting in the phone and wish good night to each other. Hiyake then stroll over to the mirror and look again if anything happens but nothing came out. “heh, just as I thought so…I am seeing things.”
The clock had ticked to 12 pm and Hiyake gave one more glance and turn to her bed when a voice came to her head. Have a nice trip…..Kazashimo. Hiyake widen her eyes….she remembered what Sukiya had said to her but she don’t understand what does that mean. Hiyake then walk back to the mirror again, clenching her phone. “sure we were friends for quite long…..but what does she mean by ‘have a nice trip’?” she ask to herself. Suddenly her image in the mirror move itself and smiled back at her. “she means it’s your turn to go after her, Kazashimo” Hiyake’s eyes widen, she was shocked to see her reflaction move all on it’s own, now with long hair. Now she swear that she didn’t see things , it is moving closer and a hand came out of the mirror to reach to Hiyake. Hiyake was frighten to death and all she wanted to do now is scream and run. But she bearly be able to scream when that hand of her reflection had touched her neck and a sharp pain cause Hiyake to get pulled to the mirror and the image drag her and pulled her into the mirror. Hiyake was totally scared and wanted to run but it’s too late because her legs are being consume to the image in the mirror. Now pullin half her body , Hiyake struggled to get away but the hands now got a hold her face and pulled her completely into the mirror .
They disappeared and just in time for Hiyake’s sister to enter into the room. “Hiyake, mom had ask me to let you know that……..Hiyake? where are you?” Shiara ask. Thinking Hiyake might had gone out to the neighbor. “oh well….” Shiara then left the room.

It’s time…….to hunt down the past mysteries………
Hiyake woke up and tried to get up but felt weird underneath her, she was shock to see her bed feel with leafs. She got up and realize it was not her bed nor her room at all. Hiyake was in a forest, tall trees towering over her , lights shown a little between the tall branches, the grass and leafs were everywhere. Hiyake was confused and lost, what had happen? Where is she? What is this place? She turn around to find a way out but the trees were only to be seen in sight. Hiyake felt she had something on her hand, it’s her cell phone! Yes! She can call for help and get the hell out of here. So, she quickly dialed her house phone number, but the line didn’t get through. She dial again, but still the same, she didn’t get any line at all. Something must be wrong with her phone yeah……. Suddenly a flash back came to her, she remembered she was in her room finish talking with Juliana, and then she went to face the mirror when that thing pulled her into the mirror. And now she is stuck here , “where am i?.....hello!!! anyone there?” Hiyake called out but there was no reply. Now she is scared and wanted to go home safely and have a warm bath. She’s gotta be strong and get out of this unknown place.
Hiyake walked and walked into the forest for quite a while until she got fend up of walking and sat down beside a tree trunk that had fallen . “great….this is just great……” Hiyake talked to herself .Suddenly she heard a horse gallouping near by . this is her chance! She can ask for help or directions . so she ran towards the sound, not caring that she hit on to some bush full of thorns and sharp branches. She ran all of her might to get to the sound coming louder and louder. “HEY!!! ANY ONE THERE?” Hiyake shouted so whoever was nearby could hear her. Suddenly she noticed light coming out from behind the trees , she then ran out of the forest, lights flashed her eyes and she stopped. She was blinded by the light and try to rub her eyes. And when she open her eyes, she realize she had ran out of the dark forest to the edge of the hill. Hiyake was now looking over the hill and what had caught her eyes. She could see far away mountains, trees, foggy sky and most of all, a large town with a huge what looked like an ancient Chinese capital or castle. Hiyake then realize she was in some kind of place that is not home or near home. She is in another world far from home. “Just where the hell am I?”
